PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

This program will help students to attain insight into physics at an advanced level. After completing this program, students will be able to:

PO1

acquire the knowledge of various physical theories, relevant experimental, models, analytical and computational methods in physics.

 

PO2

apply physics principles along with other scientific conceptual attitude to analyze the problems related to society and to show the caliber for finding the solution.

 

PO3

develop Professional maturity and work independently in other allied  fields, associated with Physics, like Bio Physics.

 

PO4

demonstrate efficient planning including time management, resource management and organization skills.

PO5

expertise in new and advanced techniques of computational Physics based on softwares like WIEN 2k, Quantum Espresso, pspice etc.

 

PO6

understand the value of research and applied research through dissertation/project component of the programme

 

PO7

have leadership skills with high regard for ethical values and social responsibilities through learning of time management and team work skill.

 

PO8

understand the impact of physics study on the society including pollution, environment, health and ecosystem. In addition, the students will be able to propagate their knowledge to address problems of social relevance, such as energy, and environment through their specific electives.

 

PO9

possess effective communication skills, teamwork skills, multidisciplinary approach, and an ability to relate the role of  physics to address environmental issues.

 

PO10

possess the knowledge of current issues and ability to engage in life-long learning.

ability to conceptualize and implement project/dissertation on advance topic as part of curriculum, thereby acquiring skills and ability to work independently.

acquire training on research based learning, a pre-requisite to take up research, theoretical or experimental, after obtaining M.Sc. degree.

 

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs):

The students will:

PSO1

understand the fundamental concepts of physics particularly concepts in classical mechanics, quantum mechanics, electrodynamics and electronics to appreciate how diverse phenomena observed in nature follow from a small set of fundamental laws.

 

PSO2

acquire the ability to pursue research careers, careers in academics, in industries in physical science and in allied fields, and also use the knowledge obtained  to be trained for competing national level tests like UGC-CSIR NET, JEST, GATE, UPSC Civil Services Examination etc.

 

PSO3

develop an ability to plan and execute their own innovative ideas in physical science by acquiring knowledge in the form of projects, product design & development, summer internship and field visit/industrial visit conducted, also develop specific skills in new and advanced techniques of computational Physics based on softwares like WIEN 2k, Quantum Espresso, pspice etc.
