CO7: Analyze AC and DC circuits and evaluate schematics of power-efficient electrical circuits by using different circuital theorems.

CO8: Build the concept of Single-phase AC circuits and explain different parameters of it.

CO9: Develop an understanding of three-phase AC circuits along with their different parameters.

CO10: Gain knowledge about transformers and electric motors which includes interfacing aspects and consumer-defined control of speed and power.

CO11: Develop capability of designing A.C. and D.C. electric circuits for specific purposes

Open and short circuits, Kirchhoff’s laws, DC Networks: Node Voltage and Mesh Current Analysis; Source Conversion. Network Theorems: Superposition Theorem, Thevenin’s Theorem, Norton’s Theorem, Maximum power Transform.

EMF Equation, Average, RMS and Effective Values. RLC Series, Parallel and Series, Parallel Circuits, Complex Representation of Impedances. Phasor Diagram, Power and Power Factor.

Delta-Star and Star-Delta Transformation, Line & Phase Quantities, 3-Phase Balanced Circuits, Phasor diagram, Measurement of Power in Three Phase Balanced Circuits

Transformer

Transformer: Magnetic coupled circuits, Dot convention for coupled circuits, coefficient of coupling, mutual inductance, EMF Equation, Voltage & Current, Relationship and Phasor Diagram of Ideal Transformer.

Machines and Motors

Introduction to principle of DC Machines, synchronous machines and induction motors, single phase and three phase induction motor, dynamo, alternator, inverter.
