Course Objectives:

This course will enable the students to –

  1. To enable students to do experiments on the fundamental laws and principles, and gain experience of using a variety of measuring instruments.
  2. To enhance basic learning skills of the students.
  3. To give students opportunity of learning by doing and develop a correlation between theory and practical.

Lab Course X

The students will be able to:

 

CO124: assess the validity of physical theories through the design and execution of an experiment, the analysis of uncertainties associated with the measurement of data and the interpretation of the data to draw valid scientific conclusions (lab skills).

CO125: be able to understand and demonstrate MATLAB concepts and its experiments.

CO126: be able to handle useful equipment’s related to solid-state physics like solar sell, hall effect, hysteresis loss of transformer, four probe methods.

Approach in teaching:

Demonstration, Group activity, Discussion, Conduction of Experiments, Asking viva voce questions.

 

 

Learning activities for the students:

Performing Experiments, Analysis and interpretation of observations.

Class test, Semester end examinations, Viva voce, Practical record file

 

CONTENTS

List of Experiments

Students are required to familiarize themselves with software MATLAB, for numerical computation on the following topics:

  1. Curve fitting
  2. Programme for Numerical double integration.
  3. Numerical integration for Simpson’s 3/8 rule.
  4. Numerical integration for Simpson’s 1/3 rule.
  5. Numerical integration for Trapezoidal rule.
  6. To find the approximate value of a definite integral by Euler’s method.
