This course will enable the students to –
the methods of experimental physics. 
Learn about  laboratory techniques such as accuracy of measurements and data analysis. 
Explore The concepts that are learnt in the lecture sessions are translated to the laboratory sessions thus providing a hands-on learning experience.

  1. To study crystal structure of a given Specimen.
  2. To study crystal imperfections in a given Specimen.
  3. To study microstructure of metals/alloys.
  4. To prepare solidification curve for a given sample.
  5. To study the mechanism of chemical corrosion and its protection.
  6. To study the vacuum order by using Gauges.

NOTE - Students are expected to perform all six experiments from the given list. Two experiments out of the six will be set in the examination paper.

The duration of the Practical Examination shall be 5 hours.

The distribution of marks in the practical examination will be as follows:

  1. Two experiments:  30 marks each.
