Objective of the Visit: To make students aware of the historical aspects and astronomical observatories of Jantar Mantar built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur in the year 1724.
Overall Report of the activity:
Department of Physics, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur organized a one day visit to Jantar Mantar, Jaipur for all students of UG and PG Physics on 3rd March 2023 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
When students entered in the Jantar Mantar, they were happy and excited to learn about various architectural astronomical instruments. A guide was hired who explained about various astronomical observatories of Jantar Mantar which consists of fourteen major geometric devices for measuring time, tracking constellations and observing the orbits around the sun.
Students gained knowledge about the construction details of skylights and importance of light and shadows. This visit helped the students to learn about various types of astronomical observations.
