The students will be able to –CO7: Explain and evaluate the Gradient of a scalar quantity, Divergence and Curl of a vector quantity. CO8: Apply Poisson’s and laplace’s equation to solve a variety of problems. CO9: Articulate knowledge of magnetic forces to calculate various forces between different types of static and moving charges. CO10: Derive Biot Savart’s law and apply it to find the magnetic field due to various types of current carrying elements. CO11: Describe the moments of charge distribution and the effect of dielectrics on different system of charges. CO12: Explain the relation between atomic polarizability and electric susceptibility. CO13: Achieve an understanding of the Maxwell’s equations, role of displacement current, gauge transformations, scalar and vector potentials, Coulomb and Lorentz gauge, boundary conditions at the interface between different media. CO14: Apply Maxwell’s equations to deduce wave equation, electromagnetic field energy, momentum and angular momentum density. CO15: Course will equip the students with required prerequisites to understand electrodynamics phenomena. |
